Hey guys. I went to the beach again today (becoming a beach bum) I just wanted to know if I could put these rocks in my tank.

    And use this as substrate?

if I lived where you lived, Id be tempted to try
for many of us on here, our local sources would not be trusted, due to levels of polution etc

could you try a small set up, nano tank, using the bits you find, and do some water testing. that way in your own mind, you would know if the stuff your collecting is safe

Ok cool sounds like a good plan. The waters aren't that heavily polluted. I've used the same type of rocks in a fresh water set up after boiling them with no probs. My main concern is if the rock contains any metals.
Is there a way to test the water for dissolved metals?

wow, good question and good point , we know from our experience as hobbyists that copper can be absorbed into rock and leached at later date
and this may be true of other metals
