I was inspecting my empty 75 g soon to be reef tank and I saw what looked like a minor vertical scratch. I tried to rub it off with my finger and no luck. This got me really pissed and I was going to box up the tank and head to the store and demand an exchange. It turned out though in the end it was just residue from a sticker and it rubbed off with a towel ::).

Anyways my question to you guys is would you guys be able to live with even the most minor scratches on your tanks? I for one could not tolerate it, it would just bother me for some reason even the most minor ones.

I have a few small scratches and even a chip in one corner, but I live with it. Nothing to worry about.

Minor scratches will happen eventually. Next time inspect it before you leave the store.

depends on the tank. On a display reef definitely not if its on the front. If its on the side maybe.

A frag tank or breeding tank yes.

acrylic is cryptonite to my idea of a good reef tank.

I have some minor scratches on the inside from the rock scraping it. It's just a pain because when you scrape, it pushes algae into the scratch.

I hate them on the front panel. but both of my tanks are 10-12years old so I just live with them. I use a blue scrubby/sponge to get the algae out of the cracks.. helps.

I've got some scratches from using a mag float. It only takes one small piece of sand. Should have never bought that thing. But I live with it.

I have a bunch of scratches in various places on my tank and to be honest, at first they bug the hell out of you, but after a while you almost dont even see them. It doesnt bother you as much as time passes.

And on top of it all....your the only one that sees them, when other people come over they are totally blind to the scratches...they neve seem to see them!
