I was trying to replace the overflow cap to my sump to make it more quiet and this happened! I am trying so hard not to freak out right now.

The pump was off so I did not have a mess. But if I cut in on the water will rise a few centimeters.

Can I just get some special type of silicon? IF so, what kind?

    Can't afford to replace it.

    Please help!

you could silicone it on both sides and let it cure completly, but the more important question is when can you replace it?

I have a 20 long that I use as a fuge with a similar size crack only at the bottom of my tank coming off a same size bulkhead. I took the bulkhead off put silicone on both sides of the crack and under the bulkhead and let it cure for a day or so and I've been using it for like a year now. I don't recommend using it that long, but its lasted that long lol.

silicon both sides was my plan & I was ready to. I ran to the LFS to get some fish safe silicon & he said he'd fix it for me if I can bring it in. So I need to relax.

I want to do more myself, but I never fill confident enough. Then when I do try, BAM, this happens.

Lol siliconing both side of the tank isn't that hard and you can't really screw it up...i don't think at least...

Short of replacing the entire tank, you might consider moving the bulkhead to the other side of the same pane if your setup allows. That crack of yours fortunately doesn't have the potential to spread. If you go that route, you can buy a 3"x5" piece of glass, butter the whole thing with silicone, and simply cover the crack. It would be good as new. Good luck!
