I'm looking to get a sump/refugium for my 150 gallon 5'x2'x2' tank build. I'm thinking of at least a 48"x18"x18" sump/refuge. I want to utilize most of the room I have in my stand. I've contacted both Trigger Systems and MRC for custom options. Does anyone have a sump made by these manufacturers? If so, how do you like it? I've also thought about going the DIY route but I'm really looking for opinions on what these two manufacturers have. Also, I am really sorry if I've posted this thread in the wrong section.

Welcome to 3reef, I think you are in the right area but will check and move if necessary. Sorry I can't help you with those manufacturers. I do think you could do it DIY at less expense and maybe more to your liking on how it is set up.

+1, with a prefab you're getting how they like it, I'd research what you want in your sump and fuge, equipment(size of equipment, and how ya want the fuge set up. You can build one pretty easy and cheap.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will definitely look into the the DIY option as my skimmer needs room. It probably won't fit into a standard sized sump/refugium.

You should be able to find an aquarium locally in that size.

yeah I'd check craigslist and whatever other sites, people are always failing at asking questions on 3reef, and letting this hobby get out of control, and they fail, so always cheap tanks for sale;) lol, j/k But maybe look for a 40g breeder or a 55g. I just took mine 30g sump into a local glass store and marked what i wanted them to cut for me. Cost $8 for 3 baffles cut, and $6 for the silicon, and about 15-30 minutes to make;)

Cosmo. That looks like an EV180. I have an EV240. I've just looked up CL and found a 65 gallon DIY refuge someone is getting rid off. I can always move the baffles if necessary. Thanks and hopefully it has not been sold.

Bigger is better in this hobby;) and yes you're correct, so yours is bigger. And your sump will be as well. And yes, moving the baffles if its a glass sump should be easy. Congrats and good luck on getting it

I've heard good things about both manufacturers, I myself prefer DIY
