    I don't think it will hurt anything and it will allow some time for your reactor to come in (I can't help with choices as I am not familiar with a lot of the options).

    Also, if you do a couple days lights out, the cyano will be reduced by a good bit which will give your reactor a better chance of wiping it out completely.

    Hopefully this is just from it being a new tank. If it keeps coming back it might be more than just a normal cycle.

    I would say granular is better in that type of system but i don't think it is very different than the pellets. Your preferences mainly!
