I think I am about half way through my cycle and I was wondering peoples experience with thier cycle.

I have been up a week and 2 days and my chem was as follows when I put everything in the tank

    0.00ppm Ammonia
    0.00ppm Nitrite
    0.00ppm Nitrate
    8.2 PH

Now today after the week they are

    0.50ppm Ammonia
    5.0ppm Nitrite
    20.0ppm Nitrate
    8.0 PH

Am I moving along as normal? I see Diatoms growing everywhere and I slight green tint to my base rocks as well. My Damsel and my 4 snails 2 emerald crabs are doing just fine eating and swimming around. But I would like to know how much longer I should have before I can place a Y. Tang or somthing. I know I need to wait tell the cycle is done.

Do you have the lights on? I don't think you should have any inverts in there. It seems to be going along fine. I think you answered your own question about the yellow tang. As long as it is a small yellow tank you could add it when the cycle is done. How big is your tank?

Looks like it is coming along nicely to me. as far as how much longer you have....well everyone's cycle is different, its hard to say. Everything should peak, then drop back down as the bacterias in there start to do their jobs.

Its a 75 gallon, I am running the Antinics for like 3 hours a day in the mornings that is all. I turn them both on for maybe 5 mins just to take a good look at everything then turn them off everyday.

The Ammonia peaked at 4.0ppm and now has droped and did that in a week I hope the Nitrites do the same. They seem to be peaking right now.

Looks good to me. Keep an eye on the inverts, they are in a slightly stressful workplace at the moment ;) They are also very good at giving warning signs if something is messed up.

Our Nitrites dropped from 5 to 0.25 in two days. Keep testing every day or every other day and you should see a decline soon.

Do you have a list of fish you would like to put in there?

Take it slow, don't add too much to fast. Wait for cycle to complete then only add one fish per month or so.
    Patience is the key!
