Yeah, perfectly understandable. Fortunately, I added fish food a couple days ago, so I can see if there are still numbers there. Perhaps add some more tonight and see in another couple days.

Next question... how much do clownfish eat? I have a 55 gallon tank that is pretty decently stocked, and it never seems to matter how much someone throws it, between the leopard sailfin pleco and my yoyo loaches, it's all gone really fast.

Fish are just pigs that swim.

I feed a small amount of flake everyday and do a larger feeding of pellets and frozen fish food every three days.

You really have to watch the introduction of nutrient to small tanks. You will get a feel for how it process nutrients ( food) over time. And as the tank becomes more established it is better able to handle larger feedings.

so flakes once a day? I know if I don't feed as much, they don't produce as much waste, which might help the bacteria keep up

Yes IME young clowns need to eat everyday. A good quality flake or pellet (and or addition of garlic or selcon) helps them maintain a healthy immune system. Older clowns can go a couple of days. The metabolism of the fish and the decay of any left over food will be enough to maintain and grow the biological filter.

I tend to feed 2-3 light times per day with my freshwater tank. I was wondering if this practice held for saltwater as well.
:) that's the plan... a couple clowns, maybe a couple other fish and some inverts... though I'm willing to wait awhile after I get the clowns for the other things.

    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate - 10

I say success... that was easy and silly fast.
