I've narrowed it down to either the asus tf201 and the tf300.I've read about a bunch of issues with the tf201 wich leads me to lean twards the tf300.anyone have any insight on the two?

If you are spending that much on a tablet, then I would buy a Samsung galaxy tablet.

I wouldn't buy a Samsung product....never. I have had a television, 2 "smart" phones and a blu-ray drive. All crapped out in less than 8 months, one phone in 2 months flat. Asus, IMO, makes quality products that stand the test of time (at least until the warranty is out). ;D

The Asus transformers are actually really nice I recently purchased a tf101. I wanted the 201 also known as the prime or maybe even the 300. If you don't plan on buying hordes of games that require the quad cores in the 201 and 300 then go with the cheaper one. I love my 101 I got it for dirt cheap from a friend with the keyboard and everything. The keyboard does kick the battery life up to around 16 hours which is really nice. When the tablet gets low i just connect them together and either continue what I was doing or just let it charge the tablet. I like the fact that the keyboard dumps it's power first so it runs dry before the tablet will.

the 101 has a solid construction the shell color kind of sucks but I can't complain. The screen holds up nicely it works rather well outside though the glass offers the view of smudges when in sunlight(so bring a cloth) it has enough ports and hook up points that you wont know what to do with your self. with the keyboard it sports 2 USB ports a micro HD port a SD and micro SD port. So there's a lot to be had with this little package.

There can be hiccups with docking and un-docking the unit basically make sure you click the power button to snooze it before doing so or else it bugs for a second or two. The screen is nice and bright the sound works well. I know with the 300 unit it has a dedicated GPS which helps it find the satellites a whole lot faster. my 101 can do it but just not from the location I'm at now =P (deep woods near mount Lassen) I've played quite a few games on the unit with very little lag hiccups or anything that would cause me to make a fuss.

All in all the 201 from what I've researched is a solid unit and super thin they compare it to the Ipad series in an overall rating. The 300 wasn't as close to the Ipad but it's just behind the prime. I love my transformer but the keyboards for a new one are still somewhere around $150 which for the extended battery life is worth it!

It's like a little laptop that you can break in half and just carry the screen around!

I have a tf201 and the wifi signal is crap on it and had issues with artifacting on the screen when opening recent apps. Unlocking the boot loader and flashing a custom rom fixed the artifacting but wifi still is crap. I love the tab but should have waited for the replacement without all the problems...ie tf300.

Microsoft surface was announced today which looks pretty nice for a Microsoft tablet. I believe its coming with windows 8 which would be good... the cover/keyboard is sweet too which would make a nice replacement for a laptop.

Im really down to the 2 and pretty heavily tilted to the 300.id like to stick to android.I think they show the most growth potential and open source is a great.I mostly use it for games and tooling around the internet.if I ever get back to school id use it for that aswell.

I have a total of 16 samsung led tv's between my home, and businesses and I have owned a galaxy phone and both the smaller tablet and now the 10.1 tablet. I have used samsung TVs for 5 years now and would buy nothing else. They also have the best rating on consumer reports and JD powers.... Your experience isn't typical.

All that said, if you have an iphone then get the ipad, if you have an android phone, then go android. They work better together. I swapped to an iphone and have found the apps and overall experience to be more fluid. But that's an ios v. android operating system issue. I'm not going to jailbreak or get techy, I want out of the box operation and for me IOS has had that better than android.
