Guess I'd be one (a "sucker")...if I could afford it, that Conspicillatus Angel would be at the top of my list.

Unfortunatly he costs about as much as my tank and everything in it. :-/

What strange but interesting markings on that angel fish's face. I wonder if he'd eat your corals :)

You know you are in trouble when LFS does not even quote price.

    Latin Name Chaetodontoplus conspicillatus
    Common Name Conspicillatus Angel
Also known as Conspicuous Angel, Spectacled Angel, Monocle Angel, Conspic Angel
    Fast Facts AVAILABILITY NOTE
Availability Note: If you want one, you'll need to contact us to get on the waiting list, be very patient, and jump on it immediately when available. Availability of this fish is always completely unpredictable, and it may be years between collections. Call 310 562 2922 for details. Yes, it's very expensive.

This species is not much more difficult to care for than other larger angels, but don't attempt it if you have to ask how to get a finicky fish to eat. It is usually slow to begin feeding, but it can do great with expert care, which it does require. The fish in the lower right has been in our personal tanks about 15 years-- we stopped counting. What's the secret? Years of experience.

*The* Holy Grail of angelfishes, Chaetodontoplus conspicillatus is found only on the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef, (good luck with that) east to New Caledonia and south to Lord Howe Island.

Sizes Throughout history, these have been 6" or larger.

Range in Nature Coral Sea, New Caledonia
    Minimum Aquarium Size 150
Diet and Feeding Omnivore, offer sponge based prepared diets and lots of algae. Slow to begin feeding, does great with expert care, which it does require.
    Ease of Care(5=easy, 1=difficult)
Reef Aquarium Compatibility Generally not safe with corals, but it's price and rarity usually puts it in a reef tank.
Related Fish Black Velvet Angelfish, Blue Line Angel, Blue Spotted Angelfish, Personifer Angel, Personifer Angel Male, Scribbled Angel, Scribbled Angel- Male, Singapore Angel, More Angelfish
