so i been looking to get myself a nice system for my tanks. while searching i have seen soooo many different kinds. i would like to eventually have a few soft corals so something i was wondering is does it matter how many stages the do/ri system has? any other suggestions on what to look for would be awesome! thanks

Spectrapure is one of the top brands and I can vouch for the quality. You want to have a sediment filter, a carbon filter, the ro membrane and di filter as a minimum. That is four stages if I remember right. The Spectrapure Max Cap has 5 stages because it uses a silica buster cartridge before the di cartridge. This extends the life of the di cartridge greatly. I feel it is worth the extra cost.

The sediment filter is the first stage and it removes suspended particles from the water so they will not clog the succeeding stages. Next comes the carbon stages. Carbon filters out many of the volatile compounds in the water. Then comes the RO membrane which rejects most of the stuff from the water and then the DI stages which removes the remaining anions and cations from the water. After going through all of these stage you have virtually pure water.

Great thanks for the link. I know that the water quality is really important so I wanna really understand what I need and not get ripped off on buying something I know nothing about
