why is this one 345, rated for 110-125:
Super Reef Octopus XP1000 Space Saver (110 Gallon) Internal Cone Protein Skimmer

and this one 295, rated for 160?
Reef Octopus Extreme In Sump Protein Skimmer w/ Gate Valve

is there a differance is the proformance? will one make better skim than the other? i know they are both Reef Octopus, and i like teh reviews from both, but in a hobby where you really get what you pay for, im just wondering why these 2, from the same brand are differnt prices, the one rated for less is more expencive?

i know that one has a sicce and one is a bubble blaster, but is teh bubble blaster $50 better than the other one?

I know it don't make sense, but the cheaper one would be the better performing unit, hence the higher capacity rating. Appliances in this hobby are pretty much the same as those from any other facet in life- price is usually based more on popularity and design rather than actual end performance.

I have a sicce return pump, not at quite as I'd hoped for, so I think I'll go for the bubble blaster and try my luck there, any thoughts?

Billie, what sized tank/violist is it for? Both good skimmers, I would have to go with the cheaper one myself. Silent and sump don't go well together lol

The tanks is 93 gallons, going to have 5 or 6 fish and lots of lps, no refugium, and a kinda deep sand bed. So my skimmer has to be boss when it comes to profomance.
