Alright, so I sold my coral beauty (picked on my fungia, well, I think it tried eating what the fungia was eating and now the fungia is missing one lip ...) so I was back to having just my goldstripe maroon clown, baby (1 inch or so) orange stripe prawn goby, gold head goby and eyelash blenny .... or so I thought. My birthday is coming up, and my friend decided to give me a fish ! flashback to a couple of weeks ago, we were at the LFS (he has a freshwater tank and the LFS has a small fresh water section too, they're mostly salt/reef though) and I was looking at some fishes, one that I particularly liked but that I knew I shouldn't get: a Philippine Powder Brown Tang .... but I told him I couldn't get the fish (didn't explain why) so yeah .... today he got me one as a present ..... I am hesitating putting him in there, I was thinking of maybe getting an orange anthias, but now if I keep the tang that'd be out of the question.
So what should I do ? try to re-sell the tang ? Or would it be alright in my tank ?
Red Sea Max 250 (66 gallons) all parameters are good.

my question is should I keep the tang or should I not keep it ? I kinda fell bad if I have to not keep it as it is a present, but if the fish won't be happy I don't want to keep it in there either. So do you guys think it will be fine or not ?

I would take it back. Too small of a tank.

yeah that's what I thought, that LFS doesn't take the fish back (unless something was wrong with it when you bought it) and plus since I didn't buy it it'd be a pain in the b*** anyway, so I guess I'll have to put it on Craigslist ....

I put him in the tank for now (couldn't leave him in the bag, he didn't seem to like it much !)
He is already friends with my Maroon clown lol, they swim together ! And he is already eating the pellets and the nori I put in there.
I'll get some good shots of him tomorrow and post him up on CL

I am wondering aqs to why you think a tang cannot survive in a 66 gallon tank?

If you like the fish i say keep him and enjoy him

he is about 3.5" from nose to tail, maybe a tad bit less (like 0.1" less)
I called the LFS he got it from and they told me that the RSM 250 would be limit for it, that they would recommend a bigger (125+) tank within a year or so. I just tested my params tonight and the Nitrates went up from 5 to 15 (last tested 2 days ago) I wonder if that has to do with the tang (and little extra feeding) or the fact that I moved some sand back that the goby had moved all over ..... Nitrites also went up to 0.1 (usually 0)
