I know the answer I need is somewhere on here but I can't seem to find it. I have a 125 with two corner filters, a sump, 1200 pump, pro skimmer and 72" 4 light(blue/white). I started with live sand, and just added three small live rocks. I have a new tank and and the algea was looking good until this dirty white cotton candy started growing and now seems to be the dominate stuff in my tank. Should I start to worry or just let it go. I was leary of adding any livestock until this is settled down. It has been up and running for two weeks.

Can you get a pic? It almost sounds more like a sponge than algae. Your going to want to get the rest of your rock in there and cycled before you add livestock, also ;)

Need a pic but, Pineapple Sponge? I have them growing in my corner over flow. They are filter feeders and good for the tank.

I would most certainly take that rock out. Never seen it before but it doesn't look good.
