Use can not use acrylic with glass period, it will not adhere. Acrylic is too smooth of a surface for silicone.

This is what happens when you do... I know first hand, painful lesson.. Glass Tank use glass dividers.

I wouldn't mix the two either. Just build the sump from glass. It's really easy and you can fit more because it's customized. As for the baffles you can buy a cheap pane of glass at home depot and the crappy cutter and cut your own. It's not too difficult to do once you get all the parts in front of you.

If you want some help on the sump send me a PM, I'm more than happy to give you the steps on getting it built! It's not very expensive either if that was a factor.

I just bought the glass from my local glass company and had them cut it for me, it was cheap enough. Two things to consider that I took into consideration when I built my sump/refuge. All exposed glass to you (top of the divides) have them bevel the edges, as well as have them dull all of the edges. Also the bottom corners of the dividers that will meet with the bottom of the tank, have the corners rounded. If not it will cut into the silicone bead. Something I do not recommend.

Thank you to everyone for the advice. I believe I will go purchase a 20g high from a LPS and then to my local hardware store for some glass. I think they will cut it for me but not sure they will round the corners and bevel the top part. Now, with the acrylic pieces, how can I use them productively? They weren't cheep and they wont take them back.

Make a skimmer stand if you need one or maybe a rack for something in the fuge? You will find something useful with it down the road I promise :)
