    Hi all -
First of all let me apologize i tried to get a good photo but was unable to...so i understand this may be difficult. I bought some new LR and it has what looks like aiptasia (had them before)....but they look different. They are not long and have no base can just see the tenticles, and mouth. The tenticles are not that long and have dark red tips at the ends. over all they are greenish brown. again srry for not having a photo...i took the rock out but they closed up and was even harder to see. any ideas would be great....dont want to aiptasia again got rid of them years ago.

    thanks

I used aiptasia with mixed results. It took awhile to get rid of them. Some people pluck them off the rock work with their fingers or tweezers.

But do you want a tank full of appies? They will flourish in time and take over much of your tank. They can even sit quietly for a a year then BOOM, you have a plethora of monster sized ones.

My big ones can eat a small child.

Whether majano or aiptasia, I strongly recommend you treat the pest aggressively before the population increases.

I have been dealing with a pest anemone issue for about 3 months now. I can tell with certainty that they do in fact sting corals and anything within reach. I wish I had dealt more aggressively with the majano early on, it would have saved me a lot of trouble.

you could get some joes juice and inject them and keep the rock in saltwater out of your tank till you see they are all dead. or just leave the rock out in the sun. but than it wont be live rock anymore.

Whenever I see any Aiptasias in my tanks, I inject Tropic Marin Elimi-Aiptas directly into the stalk as opposed to into the mouth. I find that the product has a better kill rate when injected into the stalk rather than the mouth and it has worked well for me.
