I know I mentioned that I have a Maltese and I also have a Pom-Chi. The Pom-Chi is allergic to beef products, which makes things a bit difficult. He coughs and chokes if he eats anything with beef product. The Maltese is just sensitive. I switched to Limited Ingredient Diet formula canned and dry food from Natural Balance. Most pet stores carry it and it's reasonable. The Maltese also gets half a benadryl tablet a.m. and p.m. and one claritin (we use generic) and an Omega 3 gel vitamin on his food every other day. That's made a difference for the poochies and it's not too much work.

my little one has a sensitive stomach as well, i just have to watch what i give her and ho much i give her. If i give her to much of something she ends up having bad diareah *sp* so i give her hypoalergenic treats for treats. And i give her special food, for her teeth. I was giving her Science Diet original but she scarfed that stuff down in two seconds. So i have switched her to TD which is bigger kibbles and great for the teeth, only $11 for a 5lb bag, but that's with my discount as i work at a vet.

Thanks for all the info! Through trial and error I have found that CoCo is allergic to chicken, beef, sweet potato, potato and fish. That's all I can remember at the moment! Now she's reacting to her special allergy food made by Wellness which is duck and rice (and nothing else). Cost is not a concern, I just want her better!

Are u sure that she is allergic to all those meets. It is usually the grains and fillers that sets off allergies. I manage a Petco and deal with this kind of thing all the time. It is commen for dogs to be allergic to grains. My american bulldog is highley allergic to grains. It is also commen for dogs to be allergic to poltry products. I would reccomend Natural Balance for a dog with allergies. There are alot of different flavors of there GRAIN FREE formulas. My dog prefers the Venison and Sweet Potato.

Wellness is a very good brand, they have one of the highest quality foods on the market, but they still add whole grains to there food, which is probably what your dog is allergic to. So I say give natural balance a shot, if that doesnt work go to a vet and have them run a allergy test to find out exactly what your dog is allergic to. Which is what he should of done in the first place. But vets think there super expensive prescription science diet is always the cure. So they guess the problem and sell there food. I have seen it a million times.

If Natural Balance doesnt work, try Halo. Its a bit more expensive but they have a grain free formula and they are right on par with wellness's quality.

I've seen Halo, but I wasn't sure if it was any good. Thanks for the tip! I've tried Natural Balance, but only a couple types. I'll go to the pet store tonight and take a look. Thanks!

No problem. Halo is a really rich food that only uses human grade ingredients. They also add alot of vegtables in there food. I believe Ellen owns a part of the company. That doesnt really say much about them but it is defenetly high quality food. You really should have your vet do a culture and see exactly what your dog is allergic to if the problem persists. If you get a list of things that your dog is allergic to I could make a better suggestion. Also alot of people don't know but if you buy a bag of dog food from Petco and your dog ends up not likeing it or is allergic to it. You can return it. As long as there is half a bag or more they will usually take it back. I am not trying to sell you on Petco or anything like that. But you can see if your local pet shop will do the same thing.

I shop at Petco anyway! Haha. I heard somewhere that Ellen owns a part of Halo so that did make me interested (I love her!). I'm definitely thinking about Halo. The only thing that worries me is it uses animal fat and I've read that that is not good for dogs. But I think I'm going to give it a try. Thanks a lot for all your help!! I really appreciate it.
