Always remember, "Nothing good ever happens fast in a reef tank". If you change salt brands, phase it in. Remember all of the coral deaths caused by Dr. Ron's heavy metal study when everyone went for an immediate change? There was nothing wrong with the Bio-Assay salt. However, the quick change that many people did killed an awful lot of corals.

Well...I went for it anyway. I filled my tank 2/3 full and I'll take my initial readings in 48 hours as I want the salt to dissolve completely. I will then add to get to the proper salinity level. I've opted to mix the salt in the tank and bring it to a constant temp reading before adding the CC.

In the tank presently I have the heater going and 4 powerheads so that the salt powder dissolves evenly.

After I add the CC should I start to cycle the tank (2 coctail shrimp), wait for it to cycle and then put in the LR, or, do I include the LR along with the shrimp when I'm starting to cycle?

    Thanks :)
