You can add cured live rock directly to the system, since you are still cycling you don't have to worry about it causing one.

Once your tank really gets going and everything gets balanced out you don't want to add any live rock to the tank, only base rock (dry rock).

By adding cured live rock you are likely adding bad hitch hikers that could cost you money in dead livestock.

If I had to do it over again I would use all base in a heart beat. Trying to find a snail half the size of your pinky nail in a 100 gal tank is not easy, but can wreak havoc on your zoas.

If your not in a big hurry I always keep an eye on the local marine forums because there is always someone tearing a tank down that sells the rock dirt cheap.

    live rock is dried out?

    hello,
I ordered some cured live rock, it's 2 weeks getting to me, now it's bone dry, the guy said he'd refund the money and I can send it back, but I would like to know if it will hurt my tank if I could use it, if so how would I go about it without hurting my tank? any help is greatly appreciated.
    thank you
