    Hey guys,

I didn't know whether to put this thread in the sand section or the fuge section so i'm just putting it in here, since it has to do with fuges AND sand...

Anyways, a while ago i took some sand out of my display tank and put it in a tupperware, and it dried out and now is just straight up dry sand, I'm assuming the "live" part of the live sand isn't "live" anymore..am I right?...I was wondering if i took some more sand out of the display tank, like a cup or so, and put it with the dry sand into my fuge...so in essence seeding the dry sand, what could i expect to happen? Will it cycle or something? Will the bacteria just grow into the dry sand due to the old sand being in there? I plan on putting at least 5" of sand into the fuge.

    Thanks!!!
    -Adem

yes you are right it will become live.

but since the other sand was old , i would give it a good rinse, maybe even let it soak in some water for a lil, to make sure its not holding any old organic matter.

    go bills!!

i think you might see a very small cycle because of the dead stuff in the sand. Even if you don't add a cup of live sand the critters will eventually migrate but it will take a little bit longer.
