DT overflowed

How could that work for me, though? The noise of the water falling down from that high would be pretty loud.

Also, I changed my setup for my sump to 1" PVC, because since I was moving, I had to cut the PVC. Could 1" be too small for my setup to work?

P.S. I didn't find a snail in the PVC

 

I have never run my durso that high. I do hear the water but so what??Its soothing.lol
Isn't it easily adjustable? If it is just lower it an inch or two see what happens. I always use an 1 1/2" pipe for the drain. 1" pipe with the tee may be restricting it. If you lower the durso it should work better but you still may need to enlarge the drain.:-/

 

Lowering the Durso will also give you a chance to see if the drain pipe can keep up or not.

 

I agree with Vinny- otherwise you are going to need to check your pipes

I just looked at my 90.Correction my durso is about 8 inches below the grate.lol It does create a waterfall but to me that's of benefit and if its low it doesn't splash on anything.Thats why most are adjustable so you can find what works for your setup. It helps anyway.lol

 

Define adjustable? It's not like the PVC is retractable.. I'd have to take the whole piece out, remove the PVC pipe from the rest, cut it, and put it all back (that part isn't glued). Also, if I turn my valve in my sump so that all the water goes to my skimmer chamber, would that work for stopping my DT or sump from overflowing? I'd assume that if all the water pressure is going out of one end, I wouldn't lose any pressure, thus giving me an equal to/from for my water? I forgot to include where my valve is in my original post. Here's a modified picture.

 

Adjustable as you can just slide it up and down.
If you have to take it apart then that is what I would do.
Any bends in the pipe cause loss of flow.I would try a valve on the horizontal pipe before the vertical but I really think your problem is what I have been telling you.LOWER THE DURSO!!!!!!

If your drain is too small/restricted the tank will flood.

 

The drain pipe is 1 1/2", and then goes to 1" under the tank. I guess I can cut the PVC an few inches and see is that's good enough.

Is it a sure-fire thing that lowering the durso will fix my problem?

And how would a horizontal valve work? The way it is now, I can put little to now flow into my fuge, but if it were horizontal, I'd be limiting the water going to my skimmer.

 

Nothing is sure fire but if your dt level is high that's how you correct it provided your drain is not causing the overflow. I was just saying you really have your setup backwards.I would have put the skimmer on the left under the pipe with least resistance and throttled the other one back.

 

Wouldn't I want the most water movement near my skimmer for it to clean out more?
