Yes, which is why he is saying your skimmer section should be fed via the pipe with the straight shot down to it, not the 'fuge.

Oh, I see. Well, my tank has recently been moved, and the only way I'd be able to turn my fuge around would be to move my DT, take out the fuge, then turn it around, because my stand's small size doesn't permit me to move it out.

Also, I haven't made any changes to my tank, but I tried to turn my return pump back on, and all it did was continuously suck water into the DT, and none of it was going into the fuge.. So tomorrow I'll have to cut my durso shorter

Take some pics of it if you can while you have it apart so we can see exactly what you have there.Just to rehash what I was saying; the waterfall created is what helps remove the proteins and scum that accumulate on the waters surface. While this same thing can be accomplished by aiming a powerhead at the surface, doing it via waterfall gets it directly were you want it.The Sump.

Not to poop on anyone elses suggestions but in all my years I have never had to alter a Durso by drilling more holes in the cap. Letting more air in can sometimes make a problem worse.

I'll take it apart and then snap a picture. Should I wait til my setup is seen before I cut it shorter, or just go ahead and do it? I'd only cut it about 2" shorter at a time

Take picture, then cut, then try.Open the gate valve on your sump all the way.

Now on every tank I have ever setup there will be some surges and gurgling going on until it develops some slime. Its normal.

And as I think the Vinny said,

    Your DT is overflowing b/c

The total water going in to the DT(return), is grreater than what is coming out.

Is this a drilled tank? HOB overflow?

One should never regulate the drain to the sump- or you're asking for a flood.
And yes, you can regulate a bypass, if you really want too, and many do, to go to the fuge. I for one, have one drain to the sump, which goes to the skimmer section, then to the fuge, then to the Return pump and back up.

    Good luck my reefing friend,
    Todd

I'll do that tomorrow, seeing as how it's 10pm here.

It's a corner overflow tank. It was bought brand new, already drilled.
