should i try isolating the duncan? in a corner away from everything else maybe?? or would the high calcium have anything to do with it?

Yes I would let the Ca come down, you are not dosing so it must be your water source or salt mix?

When mine stays closed for prolonged periods it has usually been because a near by coral was touching it, if even slightly. The Duncans I have had would not tolerate any other corals touching them or the SG was out of range. If you are using a hydrometer to measure your SG I would double check that value.

Just to rule out everything I would check for predators a couple hours after the lights go off as well and yes I would try a different location as well.

IME, a high Mg can stress... I'd suspect Mg.

Seeing that your Ca is this high is what leads me that way. To have that high Ca you almost certainly have too high of Mg.

IMO, your Mg is the most important reading. More important than Ca and Alk as both of those are linked to Mg in the first place.

I say focus on your Mg.

    Good luck
    P

EDIT: and if your Mg and Ca are overly high, since they are salts, it will also raise your SG. And as coraline pointed out, high or swinging SG can also cause problems

Duncan's can get stressed by a lot of things and stay closed for sometimes a week. I would worry too much yet
