Are there any special techniques or tricks to get a dwarf lion to eat frozen food? I picked one up about a week ago and hes doing fine, eating live ghost shrimp. I already do a garlic soak with garlic extreme and i feed a mix of mysis, krill and flake/pellet food. After i got him i switched over to putting drops of garlic right into the tank as recommended on the bottle if your fish arent eatting. I know it will probably just take time, my leopard wrasee took over a month before she started eating frozen.

    thanks

Try putting the food in front of a power head so it gets blown by him and actually looks "alive", one thing i have found is its bad to start them on live food and then switch to frozen bc they get used to going after live foods.

I've been adding the food right in front of the powerhead so that it blows thru out the tank. I've been feeding when the actinics only and moonlights are on when hes out the most, you can see his eyes moving like hes thinking about it. I do not really mind feeding him live food, but my main concern is the balance of his diet? i thought i heard some where that a lionfish will die if its only fed live freshwater feeder fish, somthing about to much protein? Is that the same case with the ghost shrimp? Also while hes eating live foods how often and how much should he be eating? I've been feeding him 3-4 small ghost shrimp every other day.

ghost shrimp, ghost shrimp ghost shrimp, Start off with 1-2 a day for 3 days then starve him for 2 days toss in 1 ghost shrimp...then get a frozen silver slide and toss it in...if he doesnt pay mind to it...rinse/repeat but dont feed for another day. Worked for me ...took me over a week and a half to wean him...btw u have to have patience, AND DONT FEED GOLDFISH. I feed my lionfish 1 silver side everyother day and maybe ghost shrimp/guppy feeders once a month for a treat. GL dont give up

Thanks again for your advise i starved him a good 4 days then when i went to feed my other fish, no even trying the live shrimp/silverslide method yet, i saw him picking off the bigger of the frozen mysis floating around and he also started taking big chunks of silverslides of the feeding stick.
