I just got the MP40 Vortech powerhead but have not opened it yet. I read some reviews and people have said they are noisy and sometimes break. I dont want to open it and be sorry. Anyone like the Tunze better? Do they have a wireless wave driver like the Vortech? Tell me your experiences with these brands. I have a 46 bow front now but eventually will upgrade to a 90-100
    Thanks

Vortech has had a few quality issues. I know that they have redesigned their drive shaft to eliminate a major issue. Their customer service is very good. In my view Tunze pumps are probably better quality but their flow doesn't compare. I also think Tunzes are very big and unsightly. I run 1 MP40 on a 100 gallon tank full of sps. There is flow from end to end and top to bottom of the whole tank.

I have a single MP40 in my 150. I love it. Need to get another eventually.

Tunze are good pumps, but they do not have the wireless function. Not a major drawback, but still.

The flow of the MPs are unreal. It is basically a wall of water moving in your tank.

They had a bad batch of parts from one of their suppliers. A new supplier, and a redesign of their shaft has made them pretty much bullet proof.

I had an issue with my mp 40, the shaft failed, but they sent me a new wet side immediately. Very good customer service and I like the product very much. If you went this far to buy the pump, you mine as well put it in your tank.

thats a lot of flow for a 46. i have the vortechmp20 and i love it but that alone kicks up quite a bit of sand, other than that i love my vortech.

i guess just watch out for sandstorms with the mp40
