Eheim 1262 or OR3500?

I'm looking for a bump they are rated about 900gph and i'm down to these two. I know Eheims are great pumps but are they worth the extra $50?

 

I think so. I hear they are pretty good. what is the pump going to be used for and why 900 gph?

 

Never owned one.....but I have heard good things.

 

It will be the return pump for my 90G reef with a 4' vertical head. The Ocean Runner looks to be more efficient but i heard Eheim have a great track record...

 

I bought a used Eheim. It was about 1 year old when i bought it. Runs super quiet... i bought it for my 120 gallon tank. It was the 1262 900gph model. It is way too powerful for my tank, had to dial it down using the ball valve, but its rock solid.

The distance from the pump to the return is about 5 feet.

2 questions

hi...i have a couple of questions...

i am looking at a new return pump for my 75 gallon pump...looking at eheim and ocean runner..my current pump output is about 600 gph..but i want to get a new cpr overflow...

so my questions are this....

1. i use an inline heater hooked on my current return pump about 8 inches above return pump...so can i use this high output pump with my location of heater?

2. i use 3/4 flex line for the return to the tank...so how can i put a valve in this line to slow return?

3. will this new flow and larger return affect my skimmer in my wet/dry sump with bio balls?
