    Hi,

I just purchase Eheim 250W Heater (x2) for my 120G tank. Is fully submersible. Is 17 inch long !!! I have it stand up in my sump. My water level is only 12-13 inch. So the heater is only 12-13 inch cover in water. Will it damage my heater? Should I fully submersible it? Thanks, for all help ..

You can break the heater that way. Its designed to be totally submersed or atleast up to the minimum fill line indicated by the squiggly line at the base of the temp control. Take them out ASAP. Glass heaters can break if overheated out of water.

Take it out! That wavey line is the min. water spot! Some heaters automatically shut off if dry, or if not dry for too long it should be ok. That's unfortunate of the size, but you can probably keep it horizontally in the sump?

No problem man. Im glad you caught it in time. I actually just had a glass heater explode on me. (left it on outside of water like an idiot.) I would hate to see the same thing happen to you but in your tank.
