This is an idea I had for my current project to alleviate the trouble of trying to ID which source plug is responsible for which piece of equipment. It also has the very cool bonus of helping prevent you from dying due to electrocution – a real perc.

The cost was about $110.00 all in but some of us may have a few of the necessary parts kicking around from old household electrical projects.

Each receptacle is switched independently to allow you to turn off or on any pumps heaters etc. without reaching with wet, salty hands and pulling the plug. And unlike a power strip, you don’t need to shut off everything for the sake of one. It gets its supply from a GFI 110 15 amp dedicated circuit.

I will hang a sheet in plastic with a list of the equipment that is plugged in to each receptacle and thus can change the list as needed rather then labelling the cords themselves with labels that will dissolve in the short term from water exposure.

Obviously this should only be attempted by those that have a handle on basic electrical wiring otherwise the forum will begin to lack members in the long term.
Let me know if further explanation is required.

Cool!!! In fact that's a great idea. That's too complex for me though. I would probably burn my house down. ;D

You know, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being able to admit that before the smoke is smelt.

Just replace the what looks to be metal plates with the weather proof covers from Intermatic or Carlon , Its what I always used for hot tubs and pools and any outdoor electrical work Metal plates are not a good idea at all, But it looks nice .. Us old cobblers always have the kids that need new shoes :)

Lowe's and Home depot and about any elect supply house sell them W.W Grainer Co sell on line to the general public as the above stores do unlike many electric supply houses . Just a thought

I could wire up something just like that in less than 2 hours, but I would put in the stand under the tank, with a short heavy duty (12 gage) extension cord to my GFI outlet behind the tank. I dont have a good storage cabinet, so I'm holding off for now.
