I siphoned the sand directly under where the thermometer broke. Although the lead is heavier than the sand, it did not siphon all of the small bits out. I will do a water change tomorrow after I get done with work around 5:00 and siphon the sand some more as well.

Thanks everyone for quick replies. I really hope this doesn't do anything to my tank! With such a small amount that went into the tank and so much filtration and flow, even if I don't get all the bits out won't the "lead" have a minimal impact on a 120 Gallon tank?

True. I will siphon the crap out of the sand tomorrow. Hopefully that won't be too long in the tank.

It is classified as dia-magnetic. There are no magnetic properties in lead.

    100th post! :)
