Can two different encrusting monties touch? I want to hav my two types of rainbow monties growing on eh same rock and have them grow in to each other for some crazy colors. Is this possible? Should I just make two small frags , glue them to the same disk, and see what happens?

Montis have been graphed before, on frags , but I am not sure about in the tank.

In almost all cases one will eventually dominate the other and will take over the area, eliminating the less aggressive.- Paul

If you are going to do that, do it when they are frags, but like the above posted....

One of the Monti's are going to take over the other Monti, so you might have something kidna cool looking for maybe a year or less and then its gone.

yes I have found this with zoas, made a variety rock ... which looks great when it first fills in ... but give it enough time ... and the faster growing eventually is the only one left.

I've seen people do it with monti cap with great success ... it looks great!

I'd try it personally ... even if it looks super awesome for a year, sounds worth it to me lol

If they are the same species no problem, if they are different species then you will have a war. They may end up with a neutral zone or one may take over the other. The comment about the caps is something that is done and I think would be cool looking.
