Well on mine all my lights notibly the metal halide system , i have reduced them to 7 and a half hours total time .
and the double T-12 actinics have reduced them to 8 hours in hopes this will reduce over all the energy costs.
I had actually considered moving over to T-5's totally but given my tank height it wouldint be feasible.

Also had been considering an additional grow out tank , but reluctantly plan on holding off
given that will require more juice.

Doing every thing i can right now to keep the bills paid at the shop now it seems, Gonna have to give up some things i fear considering the price of fuel / home energy needs, etc.

Worrying me really , i been in business for quite some time and in the last few years
( since 911 it seems ) Consumers/me/peeps in general have really been taking some financial hit's.

Hell i can't even consider selling my boat' less i wanted to take a real bad hit on it now,
aint doing much with it, took it out last week end for a bit ,but not much running trust me.
The darn thing only gets 4 nautical miles to the gallon, cost me near 550.00 bucks to fill it up.
( THAT MADE MY REAR END PUCKER BOYS to say the least, looked at the wife and said ' can't be doing much of this if any at all this summer )

Pumps, MH's, Ozone, and ventilation fans all run on 220v. Less kilowatts used as Tangster has already stated.

I started running my skimmer only in the daytime and off at night. Will be reducing the amount of time that the lights are on too. Solar power is a great idea that my wife and I have been contemplating for the whole house and if theres any elec left, we can sell it back to the power company. Luna

My electric bill went down $5 a month when I got the tank up and running, and that is including my MH's for 8 hours a day!?!? Wish I knew the trick, but I don't, sorry all!!

No trick! You won't see the bill for the lights until your next months bill. The billing statement for Barth. Co REMC is one month behind. It will go up my friend you have to pay for kilowatt usage. You have just quit heating your house for the winter is why you see a drop in cost.

I've been pricing out a solar system for my house already, kind of holding off because I want to see what comes of these printable solar cells. They could knock a typical $80k solar system down by half or even more.

I was considering building just a small wind/solar system for the tank only, but even that would run in the range of $10k to $15k. Peace of mind during hurricane season would be pretty nice though!

I have been billed 3 times since I fired up the MH, all were $5 under, furnace is natural gas:angry: which I hate but oh well. I have Duke here in town. Remember, my tank is what, 1/5 the size of yours?! I'd hate to see your electric bill, would probably be the same as my entire house!! It probably had something to do with me going back to work also, not at home as much to waste electricity. I'm not saying my tank is cheap to run, I've just been laughing about it cause I was flinching as I opened up the bill!

I never run my lights in the day time, nor keep them on more that 6hrs total.
be removing a power head also, when i found out that my return pump lost one of the impeller blades, lucky me my OR come with a spare one, I e-mail the company (aqua Medic)
and they told me to send them my address that they would send me another one in case
that it happens again, anyway to conclude this, my tank is much cooler now and the water cycles much faster than before, so there is no need for the power sweep any more, we need to check our moving parts specially pumps pretty often to assure maximum efficiancy at the lowest possible cost
