I think Live rock can also be a personal preference. I like a lot of rock and I design it with lots of crevaces as my base rock in the back are big pieces for the fish to hide and move around inside the reef. My tank is 48x24x24 and that gives room on the outside of the reef for swimming. I will eventually expand to a 180 gal or 240 gal as the hobby has taken me over. I just want to absorb the costs for a little while before expanding. I only started with reefs since last October and I've moved from a 65 gal to a 120 gal. I had a 150 gal fish only tank way back in the 90's that I moved up twice as I learned. Then I plan on splitting my reef about 6" down the middle to give a shelf appearance and add depth in the middle of the tank. But as I said, things can change? Hehehe and why not! Maybe I'm just wacky but that is the fun part.;D

I also believe it is personal preferance. You can make up the filtration provided by the rocks by other methods.
So in answer to the orignal post if you like it with the rock you have then enjoy if you want more get more.
