Do it very slowly, man. I used to use Epsom Salts by themselves but then learned a better mix with high purity Magnesium Chloride and Epsom Salts. Make sure whatever Epsom Salts you buy, only contains Magnesium Sulfate as other additives can be detrimental in the long run. You can get Mag Chloride from BRS. I've had a gallon jug for over a year.

Yes, I saw it and added you last night. I'm excited to have another fellow 3reefer in Knoxville!

I want to emphasize that raising your magnesium isn't something you can do the fast way. You need to add not more than 100ppm in a day, and then wait about 3 days, take new readings and see where you are. For some reason mg takes a few days to completely dissolve and mix thoroughly with your water, and that's why it's good to wait for 3 days, before adding any more doses.

I use Randy's two part Mg recipe. It's a combination of MagFlake and Epsom Salt. Using Epsom Salts alone can result in an unhealthy accumulation of sulfates in the tank. Look up Randy's recipe, it's 5 cups of one and like 3 of the other, with the remaining volume of a gallon jug filled with water. I forget which is five and which is three, but the recipe says.
