Yep, thats right. My house is infested with termites flying all over the place, and the landlord is sending the bug guy over tmrow to spray all kinds of nice chemicals. Im a little worried about my tank, cuz im not sure exactly where the guy is going to be spraying the juice. I was thinking about making a plastic housing out of a clear garbage bag and a few metal coat hangers or something.
    anybody have any bright ideas?

Put big trash bags over your fish tank. I am sure they will be fine with the lights off for a few hours while the guy does his thing. haha LOL! :)

Seal everything off as best you can. Taping up the top and sump will work just fine.

I would advise sealing off the tank with plastic as mentioned. *I* would route the air intake on my skimmer outside for fresh air (through a window or something).

The chemicals will linger in the air for a while... I'd leave it like this for a couple days if it were me (and why I'd want fresh O entering the tank)

Also leave it for a bit. Not sure how airborne that stuff is but it might stay in the air for awhile. Might be something you want to ask him. Alot of these guys are using organics now so this is another thing you might want to ask. See for sure if he is, its still not something you want in your tank cuz its still a marine polutant (I think) but here is a link to what most bug guys use. Another thing is tell him if he can use a bait product in the room with the tank that would be a little better. This way you dont have to worry so much about airborne products. This would scare me a little. I dont even let my wife spray air fresheners in the room with my tank!

This is the product that most of them use
    Pyrethroid Insecticides
    This is the MSDS
    http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/AG/Main/IPM/Data Files/MSDS/Drione_msds.pdf

if he is good this is what he will be using. It works really good have used it myself but not sure if its a marine polutant. Some of them are even though there an organic. Just ask him what kind of chemical he is using and look up its MSDS and it should tell you any info on it you should need.

thanks for all the help guys. He came yesterday morning and sprayed the outside perimeter of the house and it made the bugs go nuts. I came home to termites EVERYWHERE on the walls, falling from the sealing, and coming out of the lighting fixtures. It was really pleasant the girls i live with really liked that.... He said the bugs are going to swarm at first because the poison is driving them out of the inside of the house. I sealed my tank off with painters tape and cut up ziplock bags. It fits well around the lights, so i can leave them on for my nem. I was more worried about the poisoned bugs falling in the tank then the airborn chemicals, cuz im sure they would get eaten by my clownfish. Hes coming back every week to do treatments, so im just going to have to keep the tank sealed the way it is and just reseal it every time i take the top off for feeding.
