So I have a feather duster, I think it's actually one of those Bali worms, positive ID would be great, but it shed its crown the other week and I was just wondering how long it takes on average for them to grow it back. Also will they move around while they are regrowing it as well. I looked in my tank this morning and it was clear on the other side. The only thing I can think of is that my urchin somehow carried it over there because it was sitting right next to it. So is them moving around while regrowing a crown unheard of or is it possible?

that is a "soft-tubed" feather (vs. the hard tubed kind like the coco).

they don't really move around as much as current and critters move them around. it should anchor itself to the substrate (or a rock). once this happens, it is bad to move them. I have a couple that are facing the WRONG WAY!!! but I don't want to rip them up and move them around.

I've seen these regrow their dusters in 2 weeks up to 2 months (no idea on the hard tubed ones though)

Shouldn't be more than 2-3 weeks if it does.
But keep in mind they only shed them do to extreme stress. What have you been feeding it?

I've been feeding it Zooplex about twice a week.

The only thing that I can think of that would have stressed it out was I had a massive gha and cyano outbreak and it had quite a bit of gha growing on its tube. I've since gotten it under control and its tube is free of algae.

It most likely is starving. Zooplex is WAY too big for that duster to digest. They need something like DT's or some of the rod's might even work. Needs to be fed at least 3 times a week also.

Ok, thanks. I'll be sure to pick up some of that next time I'm at my LFS, that is if they even have it. I might be venturing online for it.

I agree. I dose DT Phyto in my tank (and pod farm) every other day basically.

I turn my skimmer off for a little while when I do this.

I was looking around Marine Depot, where I've gotten most of my supplies, and found the Kent Marine line of food. I've used their products before and have never had any complaints about them and was wondering what the difference was between their Phytoplex, Chromaplex, and Micro-Vert? They all say for filter feeders but is there one that is better than the other?

as far as I know, everything Kent sells is dead.

DT Phyto is alive so I prefer that...

I know i didn't answer your question, but hope it helps anyway.
