Have a few curiosity questions about a Long tentacle anenome. I recently bought a LTA about 8 " across and looks heathly and opens and closes regulary. MLF suggested that I feed him chucks of shrimp and seafood from the Grocery store, twice week. After 2 atempts the LTA is not accepting any food. I tried to target feed with blood worms/brine shrimp/ mysis mix..... he just spitt out a bunch of mucus and didn't seem to "eat" any of it. He routinly moves and "curls" up. he has been moving about to new positions in the tank but not dramatically.

How do I properly target feed. Do I siphon food or chuck of shrimp directly into its mouth, or do I continue to just place shrimp on the disc and hope he take it ?

Any suggestions on food choice and supplements (re: soakign the shrimp in vitamins ) etc. ?

any other tips on care ?

    Thanks for any help

as long as its healthy then its fine, plus its still getting used to your tank..i have an lta about the same size and i feed 1x every 2 weeks maybe 1week and half...i wouldnt sweat it, give it another week and try it again..i feed mine shrimp, clams, and oysters..make sure your not feeding to big of food..i feed mine chunks the size of the tip of my thumb..

if you nem is healthy then it should be sticky, or feel like sandpaper..and you should just be able to throw a piece of food and it will stick to the tentacles and then nem will pull it to the mouth..my clowns usually feed my nem, but every once in a while ill throw a special piece of food..

for the most part you can feed it anything saltwater fish wise, clams, osysters, krill,

strong lighting and perfect water is required and usually like low flow..

I had my LTA for alomost two years. I gave it 1 or 2 small pieces of raw cut shrimp about 2x a month. That was all. Until he got sucked into the overflow when I was on vacation. Was the best nem I ever had!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If it does not accept the food just leave it be and try again in a week or two. I would not add any garlic to the pieces of raw sea food.

Perhaps post an image if it continues to move around and is retracting frequently. Also include the type of lighting. Never mind lighting in the sig, looks sufficient.
