I use cubes that totally break apart when thawed. That may help. I did by mistake buy the Gel one once and none of my fish were very interested.

I tried some flake food with them now and they won't come up to the surface to get that. Is that normal?

You may have to give it a few days. They may not recognize it as food just yet. You can also try soaking the flake in some take water. This will stop it from just floating on the surface.

I just bought a true purc clown last thursday, and im having the same problem. I am feeding it frozen Artemia (the algae type one day, and the krill the next). I try to keep my fish's diet as diverse as possible. My clown immediately attacks the food, takes a bite or two, then disregards the rest. What kind of flake food do you guys feed your clowns? My sister has freshwater fish in her tiny aquarium. Should i use the flake food she feeds her goldfish or is there a special type of flake food for saltwater fish?

Im worried that my clown isnt getting its proper nutrition. The rest of the food falls to the floor and the only other fish in the tank (naso tang) is still too scared to eat openly. I usually find him scavenging off the rocks and sand bed later when he thinks im not looking.

    Any advice would be appreciated:)

Is there any risk to the fish when feeding freshwater flake food? What is the difference between fresh and saltwater flake food?

By the way, forgot to mention that i feed only once a day.

    Thanks:beer:

I feed my tanks every few days and a pinch at that and when they see me coming they fight to get to the front of the food line.. I could toss a rock in there and they will try to eat it .. People feed their tanks to death much like they do their Dogs cats kids them selves even.. The food suppliers love it though.. If it where me I'd feed them 1/2 of what you fed them last time and feed every 2 maybe 3days. I seldom if ever use frozen food's 98% all flakes..
