    Hey all,
So in anticipation of todays order, I suspect I will complete the plumbing and add all the pumps today and be ready to fill with tap water for testing.

Let me make sure I got this right.

I will fill the tank with water and the sump about 1/2 way full. At this point I turn on my return pump and somehow the rest is magic ?

I am wondering what start the siphon processs of the dorso standpipe ?

Can anyone explain this to me ?

    \Cheers

If its reef ready and no HOB overflow is used ? Then (Gravity) will do all the work..

Yes, It is a Megaflow with a 1" intake dorsopipe, and a 3/4" return.
I guess I wanted to be sure before I crank up the return pump and have it overflow to the floor...

The dorso and return have holes that I think they call anti siphon holes. When running, are these under water or over the water ?

Exact same kind of overflow I have- As soon as the water gets about an inch or two above that open grate, it will start flowing down, that airhole on the top of it (the tiny one) never gets covered in water and I believe its purpose is to allow air to escape when the water is first flowing down through it. Just fire it up- you'll have no problems, trust me. ( I was also skeptical when the guy at the LFS told me "it will just work")

The holes in the return and the overflow pipe are there to break siphon when the power goes out you want to make sure that your sump is large enough to take the all the water from the display tank untill it breaks siphon without overflowing the sump in the event your return pump goes out ( loses power)

    Great thanks.
I am gluing now and hope to do a water test by tonight. Once I have good test I will messure the sump for appropriate height. Once I know what that is and I amdone testing, I will glue in the baffles and begin the SW fill.

Hopefully we wont have any leaks...

Never glue that pipe in the overflows its a bad idea just dry slip fit it together no glue needed from the bulkhead up .
