Over the past week and a half the issue has progressed quite quickly. I initially noticed 1 very small slit or tear in my tangs dorsal fin. The first slit grew a little bit in size and then more appeared. It also appears that the fin in the area around the slits are slightly "pinched" almost like a pinched mantel. The tang otherwise seems healthy, and is eating. She does not have aggressive tank mates, and is fed daily. She has been in the tank for about 8 months I believe if my memory serves me well. The pictures are the best I could come up with, and the video is short but should be very clear. There are no visible parasites such as flukes or ick.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
What specifically are you feeding the fish?

    Marine Algae?

I am no expert on tangs but she looks a little skinny to me.

I would start with Melafix and Selcon ASAP.

Hard to tell from the image but it looks like you might have some Lateral Line Disease setting in.

Thank you for the responses, she has never shown any indication of lateral line disease. Her weight has been the same since purchasing her. She gets fed reef caviar, hikari pellets, and dried seaweed. I have started adding selcon to her food again. She is a bristletooth so most of her time is spent grazing detritus and film algae. "No aggressive tank mates," also the damage is not along the edges of the fin which would make me lean away from a attacker.

Could it be from the rockwork? My tang sometimes tried to fit in places he can't go and keeps trying

She has had abrasions on her sides from rockwork in the past, these do not look like damage from rock or a tank mate.

does it seem more likely to be nutritional or parasite/disease?
