    Is the area that is "dissolving", for a better word, white, or ashy gray. If gray, does it crumble to the touch?

    Nope not bad, just a method of reproduction in my opinion.

    Then just plain old reproduction. Take the piece that falls off and rubberband it to a rock frag. A week later you have a frag to sell to you LFS.
