One of my firefish died. Not really sure why. Usually he would come out when the light came on in the morning. I noticed last week it took him awhile to come out. Was eating well, wasn't swimming strange.

Sorry to hear that. How long was your tank running?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Is he just now missing today? Did you find his body?

IME fire fish may stay hidden for what ever reason.

I agree. Did you find a body, or remnants of one? I rearranged rocks a few days back, and my Purple Firefish just came out today. They are known for hiding.

Found him this morning with 3 hermit crabs and a peppermint shrimp having breakfast.

Sorry to hear that, they are great fish. Hard to tell why; does everything else look ok? Living in the substrate, they may be somewhat more prone to bacterial infections. Also, crabs and such can pick on them. And they probably are not as long lived to begin with as some other fish. I'd guess 7+ years, maybe, but depends how big it was to begin with.

Everything else looks fine. I have one firefish, one pj cardinal, 3 hermits, 1 peppermint shrimp. They all look fine. I think I need to do water changes a little more often. Had been doing a 5 gallon change about every 10 days.

What is your ammonia at? I didn't see that test result. It may have had something to do with it. It may have spiked and the other two were just a little more hardy.
