I picked up a firefish this past weekend and was considering another...I have read mixed information about keeping more then one. Some say yes, no problem others say only if they are a mated pair. Anyone have experience keeping more then on? The firefish is in an enclosed 24 gallon

:-/ Am concerned about compatibility with this calm and passive fish with your other "busy" critters.

Definitely would wait while before getting another until you see how this one does.

    Good Luck.

They might get along initially but if you end up with two of the same sex, they will most likely fight to the death. Happened in my tank so I only keep one since I don't know how to sex them.

they are dangerous when you intriduce one at a time and they become territorial.you gotta do it at the same time so they wont gain an advantage over the other.thats as best i know of it.

Cool, I am gonna just go with the one...I have learned with other fish that it is always wise, for the most part to just keep one of the any family..I had a horrible experience when I tried to introduce a fairy wrasse into our display tank where we already had a sixline who was one of the first occupants of that tank...

Oh Yeah, the sixline....It was less then 24 hours and I had to pull the fairy wrasse out and put her in another tank. If she was in the display tank any longer she would have died...The sixline is docile and has a great personality....He does not bother any other fish in the tank...
