Well, That is disappointing. Not only was he the nicest creatures in the tank. He was the fist thing to die.... :(

Oh oh, I may have figured out who/what did it. It's only a guess right now, but I think I have a hitchhiker. I just heard a snapping sound come from my tank.

Another sad morning. This morning I woke up and found my scarlet skunk shrimp upside down at the bottom of my tank. I had a feeling it was going to happen last night. Since the day of my bloodshrimps death he's been acting weird. He used to be very active. Feeding with the fish at the top of the tank, he would jump on my hand when I cleaned the tank but more importantly eat everthing put in the tank. The last couple days he wouldn't eat anything. Even if handed to him directly. I have no idea what the cause is.

. I tested the water last night before bed and the parameters were all good with the exception of the ph. normally it sits at 8.2, last night it was at 8. I know shrimp are sensitive to parameter changes. would that difference kill him? I'm just curious as well why only my shrimp are being targeting.

Test your copper and iodine levels.

    Copper levels are at 0
I will have to get a test or go to the LFS to check Iodine.
What should my Iodine be at?

If you haven't dosed iodine, I wouldn't suspect that. It's tace element, so it's low. I'll have to grab my test kit to see what the normal levels are. Another thing may be stray voltage in your tank. Aside from all this, the poor guy could have just had a bad day and his number was pulled. :(

one question, was their meat inside of the shell? or did it appear empty because a lot of the time they molt and place it out in the open as a distraction to predators while hiding. He also could have been the one that killed the other shrimp, they do not get along well with other shrimp.

I have never dosed Iodine and after reading that link, I highly doubt that was the case. As for the molt, he fooled once already, not the case this time. He was meaty.

He always stayed in the open. Even the last time he molted, not a shy shrimp at all. As for killing the other shrimp, I have never seen him on that side of the tank and I watch the tank a lot. I'm not saying this isn't the case, but I doubt it.

Like I said he was acting weird for about 3 days, not excepting food or anything. Aside for the other shirmp, everything thing else is doing fine. I'm going to guess the little guy was stressed and just had a bad day.
