Just wanted to let you all (mainly birdlady, John, and John...who have helped sooo much) know that I have added my two first fish today and am very pleased and excited!!!! I added a percula clown, who seems to be doing great and a diamond goby, who, while I havent seen him much cause of the rock hiding, also seems to be doing fine! I am feeding frozen brine and they both seem to be liking it and both acclimated very well! If all goes well, and the tank easily handles the bio-load, I will be looking to add an anemone for the clown and some hermit crabs in the next week or two!

Thanks again everyone for your help! I am sure I will be back with some questions as I progress!

    Thanks,
    Mike

Glad to hear it. Be sure to get something more nutrious for those guys... I'm worried about that Goby with new sand. It's a little early for those guys. I used to have one and used a turkey baster to get thawed frozen food (Formula I, Mega-Marine, Prime Reef, etc..) down to him.

I'd hold off on that anemone until your tank is well established. ;) :)

    Good luck!

    Mike,

I agree with Matt about the food and the anemone, try to mix it up a bit ( the food, not the anemone ) :)

Anyway, best of luck with the fish, I just KNOW that they will do well :)

OK guys...I guess I will hold off on the anemone at least until after christmas (im asking for metal halide)!!! My clown just looks so lonely and fluttering around, its sad...maybe I can get him a friend instead! I also bought some formula-two freeze-dried flakes the other day...the clown eats them, but the goby doesnt seem to like them that much...he has been coming out from the rocks to eat the frozen brine though! Everything seems to be going smoothly!

I will keep you posted...thanks again for all the help!

    BL,

Im sorry that you lost that BTA, it really was awesome looking...but hopefully I can learn from that...I will definately be waiting to make sure everything in the tank is stable and the lighting is proper before I try an anemone of any kind!

    Thanks again!

Some fish seem to go for the frozen cubes(thawed) over flakes. Give it a try. Brine isn't really enough to sustain a fish in my opinion.

I agree with Matt on this. Brine shrimp has little nutritional value. They do sell frozen brine that is fortified with omega-3 (vitamins) if possible use this. You can also buy Selcon or Zoe to soak your food in to add nutritional value.

Well guys, bad news...and i am really disappointed by this!  My fish are dead...last night I went to bed and this morning I woke up and they were dead...I checked the ammonia last night and there was a little bit...but I didnt think anything of it!  I woke up this morning (well really this afternoon) and the fish were dead and the ammonia is at >8ppm, nitrite at 0.5, and nitrate at 0 (when before the fish addition it was at 40ppm)...what the hell happened...I am really really disappointed and thought everything was going so smoothly!?!?!?!

I don't know what happened!  I just put in 2 fish, the clown and the goby and now they are both dead  :'(.

I followed all of the directions and made sure my tank went through the full cycle...but I guess I did something wrong!!!!!!!!!

Please advise...this is a fish crisis!!!!!!!!
