i cleaned my glass earlier this afternoon with a mag float, and did the usually weekly water change and cleaned the skimmer. Tonight i noticed what looks to be cyano on my glass. It's kind of a purple/reddish but more so purple slimy looking type stuff. I've noticed diatom's isint as bad anymore. But my tank is getting GHA on the rocks, sandbed, and glass. So this sucks, i know it's apart of a new tank though. Just glad i'm getting a sea urchin tomorrow to take care of the algae on the rocks.

Yup, new tank=algae cycles. I remember when I set up my tank I had cyano BAD in the refugium then one day it just disappeared and it hasn't came back.

Oh no!! Mine has slightly improved, but it's still a pain. If you find a "magical" cure let me know! Good luck!!

man that sucks, i'm really hoping this algae clears up before Thanksgiving because were having a bunch of people over at my house, and i'm sure people will want to come up and see the tank, and i don't want it to be covered in algae

glad your's is going down. lol i wonder if the sea urchin will eat it, he's going to have plenty of GHA to eat :) At least so far the cyano is only a small spot on the glass, but it sucks as it will spread like crazy like the GHA is doing

You should really consider getting a full clean up crew from Reefcleaners.org. They will know exactly what will eat you algae.
