    Welcome Joe :) .... just like others said, be patient... let your tank cycle for as long as you can take (I let mine cycle without any livestock for over 2 months) and make sure that your water parameters are right. You most likely run into some issues in the beginning, but we all did. So, hang in there and don't hesitate to ask questions... 3reef is an awesome forum and will always answer your questions.

    For those of you joining us that are new to the hobby - the best piece of advice you'll get around here as a saltwater newbie is 3Reef's slogan
    "Go slow, let it grow."
    And for those experianced hobbyists joining us - it's still good advice :p

    Dont add damsel, they are aggresive, mean, and will be pain in the butt to catch once you found out his bulling all his tank mates.
