thanks a million to anyone who has helped me so far.....i converted my 55gal fw to sw about 11-12 days ago and successfully introduced my first fish (unsure what type of damsel,a small blue damsel with yellow band around his middle and bright blue horizontal stripes) yesterday afternoon and he appears completely healthy....thanks all. I am looking for suggestions as to when and what kind of clean up crew should go in next.

sorry, the details.....55gal, been setup with salt for about 12 days, thin sand bed (20lbs very fine sand, over 40 lbs medium sand) 30-35lbs live rock, and as a guess my first cycle will be complete within about 2-3 weeks

glad to help just go slow. dont forget the damsels in there to cycle the tank, so dont rush off and keep stocking as you may have some parameter spikes coming your way.

and remember before you add other fish (after your cycle) if you want to remove the Damsel, do that first!

why would i need to remove the damsel before adding any other fish? i understand they can be somewhat aggresive, but i thought i would be able to observe their behavior and remove if there is any trouble

You can do that but it never fun to have to tear down your aquascaping etc. Because you have a problem fish that you can't catch. I think i've had to do this atleast twice and it's not very fun. :)

I'll testify to that , I had to go through it early on after my domino damsels started going after my flame angle. I had to take out 100 lbs of lr to get them out and this was after trying for about 5 hours without success to catch them.

They can get really mean, they would come after me then dart back for cover so they were impossible to catch.

Good luck with your new adventure
