Would the (2) 1" percula clowns be threatened by a 2" coral beauty and royal gramma?

    Well Im curious about something...

I have a 2" coral beauty and a 2" royal gramma. Both were bought at the same time and niether of them have any problems with getting along with eachother or the engineering/mandarin goby.

I posted a thread earlier about getting a clown/anemone. I ahve made the physical room for the anemone and want to now get a pair of small 1" true percula clowns. My lfs has them and I was hoping that there wouldnt be any problems with size compatability.

Would their smaller size be an issue with the coral beauty and royal gramma. I have no experience with clowns and woud like 3reef's opinion.

    Thanks guys!

That should be fine! It is best to add the more aggressive fish last and the Percula Clowns can be aggressive towards new inhabitants basedd on past experience and since they are related to the Damsel fish! The one inch size difference is not a major factor.

I would think that would be too many fish for a 20 gallon. All the fish are going to grow.

Hello Yuri, I gave this some thought (imagine that) and I would say you should take your time and look for an anemone that is already hosting a Clown. LFS will have them and sell as the pair. That way you should have (or should I say, your fish) will have no problem as the clown will stay with it's host and leave the others alone. Now, it will defend the anemone, but the others will catch on and not get too close.

i dont have a coral beauty but i have a gramma with my clowns. They get along fine; i actually was worried that my clowns would be mean to the gramma. But so far so good!

    Thank you Jeremy A
The coral beauty wont be growing much since its a dwarf. The engineering goby never comes out the rock and has plenty of room inside of it. I plan on building a new tank within the next year anyways and Im hoping for a 90 gallon at least. So im not too worried about his growth. Im only looking into the next year or so.

    Thanks for the stats.

I would definately love to do that, the problem is that all of the lfs's near my house only sell clowns and anemones separate. This sucks!!!

I would love a pair that have hosted to an anemone but unfortunately i cant find it....

Thanks for the advice. I might be lucky and find such a pair.

Hey! This isn't a big problem! Few months ago we have been discussing about PHOTO-trick, please read following thread:http://www.3reef.com/forums/tropical-fish/photo-trick-clown-fish-bta-44169.html

Good luck! My clowns found "new home" in 3 days using this method! :)
