Interesting, I have only read it in a couple places and wondered about it. I think I would be hard pressed to not add anything to my tank for 11 months, so I just never put much thought into it.

It's a FOWLR with a single fish...... not much to add.

Not to mention, it's not difficult to not add ich to your tank (besides fish).... leave it in a fallow tank for a couple of months.

sorry for the delay in reply, i went up this morning to see the fish and they appeared to not have any white spots, but then after school i went up and they had the spots again. the fish are not stressed i got the tang and clown from a friend who could no longer accomadate them. i would put up a quarantine tank if i had the money, i had a ton of money saved up but bought halides, which i think was a worthy investment.

Are you sure they just arent getting sand on them? My fish do that from time to time...they go down near the sand bed and some sand will get stuck to them...my anthias are notorius for it...scares the ::Bleep:: out of me cuz it REALLY looks like ich sometimes...also many fish have color changing capabilities...my sailfin and blennies look like 3 different fish from time to time....Are your fish "rubbing" on the rocks, labored breathing, not eating...?

thats why i was suspicious, i have an airstone going along the back wall and at first i thought it was bubble or sand, but it stayed on and it keeps dissapearing and reappearing.

Can I ask why you have an airstone? IMO they are just salt creep nightmare creators in saltwater tanks....it may be just sand on your fish...which would explain the disappearing and reappearing of "spots"....if it was crypto..they wouldnt have that feature...they WOULD eventually disappear once the cyst fell off..but that doesnt happen in hours.

i have a long airstone along the back of my tank so you cant see the back because it doesnt have a background, all you would see is a wall in need of painting. it actually looks really good.

honestly i'd do away with the airstone, if you have enough surface movement via power-heads and a sump....in a saltwater tank people try to get bubbles out of the display..and your puttin em in..lol :)

are bubbles bad? or is it purely aesthetic? i think it looks great you cant even see the back wall it gives it depth.
