Fish Help

    Ok so andrew (my cousin) bought a 2 1/2" flame fin tonomi tang for his tank but had to go some where and will be back at 10 tonight the fish was bought at about 5:30 and is now floating in my 10 gallon until he comes to pick him up at 10 what should i do?

    how long would a fish last in the bag unopened?

    should i realese him into my tank till 10 tonight ? (my 10 Gallon) and then have andrew pick him up at 10 then reacclimate him to his tank when he gets home


    K+ to anyone that postes helpful information before 6:30 it is 6:20 now

    I would leave it in the bag. It will be fine for four and a half hours. Heck, they are in bags for 24-48 hours when they get shipped around everywhere ;) The only thing I would do is to make the room the tank is in as dark as possible to help keep it calm.

    I would open the bag, and stick an airstone in it to give the fish some aeration. As the fish sits in the bag the ammonia will raise, O2 levels will dimish, and the ph will drop. Aeration will help to drive out CO2 and will help to keep the PH in a more constant state. Also, please remeber to keep the bag floating.
