So I'm terribly indecisive and need some opinions. I have a new 120gal (60x20x42) reef tank that's currently still cycling (week 5). Parameters are stable, just being patient. There's nothing in it at all right now. I'm doing fish first, coral later, or maybe some coral along the way. I don't have a set plan for coral, but will probably do a little of everything as I have plenty of lighting (3X250W MI, 4x65W PC 420 actinics). Here's where I'm at currently:

    2 black/white clowns
    Citrinis clown goby
    Coral banded shrimp
    6-line wrasse
Exquisite fairy wrasse or Scott's fairy wrasse (bigger than the 6-line so they'll get left alone)
    Long nose hawk
    Yellow Tang
    Blue or Kole Tang

Too much? Too little (not that there's such a thing)? Thanks in advance.

Looks good to me, only thing I really see that might pose a problem is the Long Nose Hawk with the Coral banded Shrimp. I'm in the same situation but with a 55 and it hasnt even got water in it yet. I have to decide whether I want to leave one of my favourite fish out of the aquarium so I can keep shrimp too.

Yeah, I was aware of that potential issue, but I was under the impression if the shrimp was in there first, and since it's one of the larger shrimp, I could probably pull it off. Bad assumption?

I'm not positive but you still might have trouble with the 6-line and the fairy wrasse, regardless of size it's more about temperment. I personally would avoid a 6-line with any fairy or flasher wrasses from what I've read.
It doesn't matter if a fish is 1' long if it's a shy, docile fish. Even a 1" aggressive fish can harass it. I would be very careful with that combo, although Scott's fairies are some of the more aggressive fairies that I've heard about so maybe it would be OK, just be aware that there might still be some risk of aggression going either way.

I would also skip the blue tang, IMO too big for a 4' long tank. Go for the yellow and kole tang if you want to try 2 tangs, although some people would recommend against that in a 120, especially once they get larger.

I think the stock level sounds OK though to me if you don't end up with an adult blue tang in there. Also I assume you're referring to the hippo/regal tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) and not the Atlantic blue tang (Acanthurus coeruleus), just to clarify...

I like the list, I would rather see a Kole and Yellow tang together as far as size goes, but you may have fighting if the tangs have a similar body shape. Also, you will probably never see the goby, it's very small and will hide in and around the rocks.

Alright, I had that concern w/ the 2 wrasse so maybe I'll drop the 6-line and do a flasher and a fairy.

The tank is a 5', not 4', but I understand your concern (it's been one of mine too, so that's probably all I needed to hear). And yes, a regal, not an atlantic.

I am a bit concerned about those 2 tangs together, as I couldn't seem to find anyone keeping that combo, but they're not the same genus, so it should work...

I figured that would be the case with the goby, but I was going to try it anyway. My LFS has had one forever now that's a decent size and no one seems to want him.

Cycle had been done for a while, but I managed to wait it out 5 weeks. 2 black/white full-bar clowns are in there now. Also, I had picked up some live rock rubble with some decent coralline to seed my rock from Aquatouch, and I managed to snag a few pieces w/ a couple zoanthid polyps. So I've got a couple corals now too. I've got a decent diatom bloom happening now that my lighting is on a regular schedule, but I realize that's an unavoidable part of the process. Considering adding a mild clean up crew this weekend. Pics thus far:

And after some reconsideration, I've decided to leave the long-nose off my list. I'm thinking of doing a few peaceful wrasses in place of the 6-line and the long-nose, possibly a trio of something if I get the opportunity.

The aquascape looks great! Plenty of nooks and crannys for your fish to hide in. I really like those green Zoas, I think they are called Nuclear Dragon Eye's or Nuclear Greens or something. Clownfish are looking lovely too!
If your gonna start buying pieces for your CuC, you should start by getting some Turbo Snails, Nassarius Snails and possibly some Reef Hermits?
As for the wrasses, I would go with some a pair of flasher wrasses and a Christmas wrasse. Only thing with the Christmas wrasse is that you would have to get it fairly small (like 2.5"-3") and add it at the same time so that it grows up with the shrimp and doesnt pick at it.
Looks to be a promising tank! Good luck!

Thanks. Pretty sure the one is a nuclear green, but as somebody already pointed out to me, most retailers give whatever names they want to them anyway. The clean-up crew I've got in mind right now:
    ~10 Turbo snails
    ~10 nassarius snails
~4 blue leg or neon blue hermits
    2-3 peppermint shrimp
    1 coral banded shrimp

I'm pretty open to any species of wrasse, I'll probably just grab whatever is most appealing and available when I'm ready.
